Instructions:
You are investigating the density of different materials by direct measurement of mass and volume
- Select a material from the dropdown
- Use the Balance tab — read the mass display and note the value in grams
- Use Ruler to read L — the block is a cube, so all sides are equal and Volume = L × L × L = L³
- Or use Measuring Cylinder — drop the block in. If it floats, click Push under to fully submerge it, then read the water rise for volume
- Enter your mass, volume, and calculated density, then click Check
- Repeat for each material and plot a bar chart of the different materials and their densities
- Think: Which materials have a density less than water (1 g/cm³)?
